The Men's Club of Beth Israel

The Men's Club is an arm of Beth Israel. The purpose of this organization is to strengthen Jewish consciousness by cultivating social interaction, encouraging social services, offering religious education, supporting activities that benefit the Congregation and promoting closer fellowship among its members. We welcome Jewish men in the congregation and community at large.

Men's Club men support the Beth Israel congregation and each other with a variety of spiritual, educational, and social activities:

     * Scheduled monthly meetings and events (Click here for Calendar)

     * Sponsorship of an annual Men's Club Shabbat service

     * Contributions to Beth Israel operational expenses

     * Hands-on help and funds to augment special temple projects

Annual dues are $18 (Chai).

We had a fantastic Bagels and Discovery program on April 15th featuring Tony Belmont, President of the National Comedy Hall of Fame.  He offered an historical journey through the history of comedy and how entertainment from the days of early theater evolved from that time through stage, vaudeville, film, radio and on to television.  There were rare one-of-a-kind visual interviews with many of the icons of comedy and a great many laughs.  He also had a few surprises up his sleeve as well as handing out prizes to those who could answer his trivia questions.

On April 24th we co-hosted a financial luncheon at the Plaza Club and Freedom Fairways in Sun City Center.  All Beth Israel members, their families and friends were invited to this mid-afternoon financial workshop.  Co-hosting with us was Ameriprise Financial Services and featured a presentation by Mike Wiegner, VP/Senior Advisor Consultant, Oppenheimer Funds.  There was absolutely no charge for this event and they even provided dinner for us with a choice of either prime ribs or chicken marsala.

The following day, on April 25th, at our General Membership meeting the featured speaker was LTC  William Morrow, USA (Ret) whose military background had him well-equipped to tell us of the history of our Army Rangers.  Food for the luncheon featured wraps from Publix.

The next Men’s Club Board Meeting will be held on May 2nd where plans for our May 23rd General Meeting will be finalized.  Flyers for that last meeting before our summer break will follow.
